Family Run For Over Half a Century
Since 1957, Samfet has been a family-owned and operated business. One of the first and few remaining project management firms specializing in stone, our industry and client relationships run deep. Our pioneering expansion into China to capitalize on production efficiencies, enabled us to be one of the first companies worldwide to provide Italian engineering and quality at project conscious pricing.
At The Forefront Of The Industry
We have seen the face of the stone industry change, and have remained at the forefront of new trends, materials, and techniques. Half a century of proven experience ensures our clients receive unparalleled expertise.
Our philosophy is simple, work together to build a dream. Big or small, unique or inspired, the relationships we build and how we manage them are the sum of our success. We take a partnering approach to projects; developing relationships with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and goals in order to identify optimal, cost-effective solutions that meet the highest of standards.
In the 1950’s, under the guidance of Robert and Giacomo DeLazzero, Port Morris grew into one of the largest terrazzo contractors in the world, completing such projects as the Pan Am and Time & Life buildings, as well as Idlewild Airport (now known as John F. Kennedy Airport). In the years that followed, we completed work on a number of some of New York’s most renowned buildings in conjunction with such prestigious architects as I.M. Pei and Edward Durrel Stone – most notably the General Motors building and the St. Regis Hotel.
Building New York Since 1904
commitment to fine, creative workmanship and superior service.
The 1964 World’s Fair featured an impressive display of terrazzo in the New York State Pavilion which was designed and constructed by Robert DeLazzero and remains a wonder to see even today. Port Morris’ success continued with our extraordinary marble and tile work at the World Trade Center and the Jacob Javits Convention Center. More recently, we participated in the extensive restoration of two New York City landmarks: Pennsylvania Station and Grand Central Terminal.
The success of our company’s forbearers was founded on their commitment to fine, creative workmanship and superior service; today, many second and third generations of our original craftsmen carry on this tradition. We proudly point to Port Morris’ reputation as the finest in our industry, consistently delivering the most challenging projects on time and within the budget.
