01-29-2013 Hotel Bel Air, Los Angeles

Having finally reopened its doors after two years of extensive renovations, the new Hotel Bel Air has already garnered much well-deserved praise, including Fodor’s Top 100 New And Noteworthy, Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List for 2012, Travel + Leisure’s “Top Large City Hotel in the U.S.,” and Hospitality Design Award’s pick for “Best Bathroom” and “Best Guestroom” in 2012. The renovation boasts 103 guestrooms and suites, three new loft guestrooms, seven individually designed specialty suites, and twelve new contemporary hillside suites within the privacy of the lush 12-acre property. Samfet worked hand in hand with celebrated designers Alexandra Champalimaud and the Rockwell Group, along with the Morley Builders to realize the floor-to-ceiling refurbishments and additions. Highlights include a tantalizing new restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, two cozy bar and lounge spaces, and spa by Swiss skin care specialist La Prairie. Champalimaud’s redesign adds a fresh, contemporary edge while paying homage to the Golden Era of Hollywood glamour through a mix of 30’s, 40’s and 50’s décor.
