A monumental Development
The largest development in New York City since the Rockefeller Center

The Hudson Yards development is one of the biggest real estate projects in the history of the United States, and is the largest development in New York City since the Rockefeller Center. Hudson Yards includes more than 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, state-of-the-art office towers, more than 100 shops including New York’s first Neiman Marcus, and a collection of restaurants curated by Chef Thomas Keller. The monumental development also includes approximately 4,000 residences, and the Equinox Hotel with more than 200 rooms.

Samfet provided marble, stone, and tile in all of the public retail spaces and bathrooms, in all the kitchens and bathrooms of the Equinox Hotel, and in all of the residential kitchens, bathrooms, and floor corridors. We’re proud to say that this impressive project has been a huge success, and represents some of our finest contemporary work.

The Hudson Yards project has garnered an impressive amount of press coverage, and it’s easy to see why. Situated in an area roughly bound by 30th Street to the south, 41st street to the north, 11th Avenue to the west, and Eighth Avenue in the east, Hudson Yards is expected to inject even more life into Manhattan’s west side neighborhood.

Construction started in 2012 with the groundbreaking for 10 Hudson Yards, and the first phase opened in spring 2019. Both phases are projected to be complete by 2024. The Hudson Yards complex consists of several buildings including: 35 Hudson Yards, 15 Hudson Yards, Hudson Yards Retail Mall, and more.

Hudson Yard Retail Experience
The retail mall at Hudson Yards, now open, promises tourists and locals a superior shopping experience.

The retail mall at Hudson Yards, now open, promises tourists and locals a superior shopping experience. At 1 million square feet, there’s no shortage of both designer boutiques and mass market retailers. From upscale dining to a massive Neiman Marcus, it’s safe to say that Hudson Yards is a veritable Disneyland for adults looking to spend money and have a good time.

The complex has been associated with dozens of superlatives, from ostentacious to glitzy and luxurious. The official opening could only be described as a flashy affair, complete with celebrities, social media influencers, and a Liza Minnelli performance of “New York, New York” inside the enormous Neiman Marcus. What is perhaps less talked about, is the intricate design, impressive architecture by Kohn Pedersen Fox, and the hard work that went into building this project of historic proportions.

Samfet’s teams were integral to the Hudson Yards retail mall, as they provided all the stone and marble in every single public space and bathroom. Samfet is largely responsible for the handsome dark gray stone exterior, which is made up of hand-set stone cladding.
